By Madeleine UrbanAbigail Roux. Baltimore, Maryland, is a city in alarming distress. Rising violence is fanning the flames of public outrage, and all law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are catching blame.

Unreal how these books keep getting better and better. These two authors really know how to write these stories so you get just the right amount of action, intrigue, dialogue, back story and angst. I think because here the story and plot are not all about them being on a case or undercover. Don’t get me wrong, there is a mystery going on with banks being robbed, explosions all over the city and the public rioting against the cops, firemen and Feds.

There is more coming up about Ty and Zane. No, I’m not telling – that would be a spoiler and I don’t like doing those. Meanwhile, Ty is holding a lot inside. He’s basically walking on egg shells because he doesn’t know how Zane will react to anything. In fact, they both are doing it to each other. The walking on egg shells, I mean. Now, Ty’s not a happy camper right now.

He’s been injured, his beloved Bronco was blown up, his partners been injured and they have no leads on the culprits. But, his best friend Nick isn’t helping by reminding Ty of stuff that happened at the end of their last tour. Stuff that Ty doesn’t want to think about. Stuff he’s pushed to the conqher and only revisits in his nightmares.

Book Review: Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux’s Divide & Conquer – KD Did It Edits

Too much is happening for Ty’s shaky mental stability. I can’t say I was surprised by the ending. But I definitely didn’t like it. Wow, how much do I love these two, but what a roller coaster ride they take you on. Like a lot of readers I’ve been hanging out for this one and was so happy to join Ty and Zane again.

Having said that Ty and Zane are one of my favorite couples and you can’t help but love them no matter how frustrating they can be.

Feminist Fairy Tale Reviews: REVIEW: “Divide & Conquer” by Abigail Roux and Madeleine Urban

Can’t wait for the next book it’s driving me mad already cos we know Zane is going to kick Ty’s ass. Oh, how I’ve missed these guys! Zane and Ty are one of my favorite couples in a series. Their both so strong and protective of each other, but they share some pretty tender moments too. I think this book was the most emotional book so far. But then it really made an impact with the way Zane actually said it so in the end I was satisfied. I really liked seeing a little into Ty’s past relationships with his friends and his ex-girlfriend.

I would love to read more on Nick and the recon team. You definitely need to read these in order, but it’s so worth the time.

I finished this last Friday and have spent a week trying donquer work out in my mind how I felt about it. I knew right away that I felt let down, but I wanted to really think about what bothered me before I wrote this review.

Review – Divide and Conquer by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux

I wanted more from this book. Authors, if you are trying to say that both of these men are too broken to have a life together and deal with all the ups and downs that come with that kind of commitment, then why are we reading this series at all?

I have to assume that the story of Ty and Zane will not have an unsatisfying conclusion, but this book felt like a big step backwards. Thus, they draw out the angst, miscommunication, misunderstandings, etc. In the first three books, I felt this was done well–the balance between angst and growth–but in this book it felt like the authors were unsure of what pace to move the relationship forward at.

It felt like they threw obstacles in the way that didn’t need to be there, obstacles that felt contrived, because they didn’t trust their writing to be true to Ty and Zane and didn’t trust us as readers to accept a healthier relationship between Ty and Zane in this book.

I hope that the next book is a step forward I am tired of reading about them wrestling emotionally with each other and with themselves–they seemed to be past the worst of that at the end of book three.

Now I want to see them more united and dealing with the problems that come dvide a same-sex relationship in the world they live in. Again, this felt so contrived as to be almost insulting.

Divide & Conquer

This, maybe more than anything, made me feel like the authors didn’t trust their own writing to keep us interested in reading the next book, didn’t trust us as readers to want to read the next book without a little insurance.

I mean, we are to assume one of two things, right? I expect better of Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux. All that having been said, I am still giving this three stars because Here’s hoping it will be again. By Madeleine UrbanAbigail Divids 4 reviews. Select format eBook Paperback Audiobook.
